Are Snoring Earplugs The Answer For You?
There are snoring earplugs. I usually use earplugs when I go to a concert. I do love the loud music, but I don’t like my ears ringing for hours after the concert is over. Those wonderful earplugs are also good if you are woken up by your own or someone else’s snoring.
Foam
The foam plugs are the ones I’m used to using. These are the kind that we used in the Navy. You can usually find them at Wal-Mart and other department stores. These snoring earplugs wear out after a few uses. But they work really good while at the same time allowing you to still hear the alarm clock or other emergency sounds.
When buying foam snoring earplugs, choose high quality plugs such as SnorPlugs as they are intended to be comfortable for long wear and to maintain their shape over a year or more of use. They absorb moisture in the ear canal and which can help them to feel comfortable longer.
However, many people find that foam snoring earplugs can fall out or become uncomfortable as they sleep because there is something stuffed in their ear. For people with that problem an over the ear sound blocker could be more effective.
Snoring Earplugs Made From Wax
Wax ear plugs are popular among swimmers and for snoring earplugs because of their custom fit. These wax earplugs are balls of wax which fill the ear to muffle all noise and conform to the ear exactly. These wax ear plugs will usually only be effective for a couple of uses but are usually sold in packs of eight or ten.
Wax snoring earplugs are often comfortable all night and will stay in place out side the ear canal with little difficulty. Many people find the wax earplugs more comfortable than foam because they become nearly unnoticeable after a few minutes; they will match and maintain body temperature and they are soft and light.
Other Materials
Snoring earplugs are also made from other materials like silicone. These are liked by people who don’t like sticking things into their ears. These plugs fit around the outside of the ear and create a seal to stop or minimize sound from entering. Silicon plugs can be used longer than foam or wax.
Now, let me say one more thing before wrapping this up. Snoring earplugs are good for use in public situations like a dormitory and at home when occasional snoring wakes you or someone else up. However, if you have a chronic snoring problem, it’s important to see your doctor to rule out a more serious condition, like obstructive sleep apnea, they may be causing you to snore. Furthermore, if you or someone you love snores, you shouldn’t just cover up the problem with earplugs. You should consider the cause and seek a treatment to end the problem forever. For example, if being overweight is the cause of your snoring, then you should seriously consider doing all you can to lose some weight.
